Hello, good morning…. My name is JJ van Zon, I’m an international Yoga & Meditation Teacher, spiritual coach, author and love activist. I’m on my YouTube channel everyday at 8am CET with a live stream Meditation until the lockdown due to Covid19 in my country the Netherlands lasts.

So What is happening today?
I watched a clip of this amazing trauma therapist & yoga teacher Hala Khouri yesterday, where she explained how it’s crucial to sit with your discomfort.
“We cannot transform
what we refuse to feel,”
I was amazed…. well done Hala… I love it. We cannot transform what we refuse to feel….
And as she spoke more, me as a yoga teacher resonated with her message for body practice.
This is what I got out of it:
If a bear comes in your house you can respond with fight or flight. It activates your sympathetic nervous system and the adrenalin makes you do incredible things.Now when you are safe your parasympathetic nervous system sets in and the dopamine and serotonin calm you down.
The sympathetic & parasympathetic
are both necessary for a healthy
autonome nervous system.
But what if you freeze. Your sympathetic nervous system will still rise up, but the adrenalin can’t go anywhere. You’re literally holding this energy in. Now as Hala Khouri mentions in this video is that animals who do play dead to not be eaten, they discharge this energy after they’re safe by shaking their bodies. They shake it off.
We as humans aren’t raised
processing this energy,
so any discomfort in our body
stays bottled up or
is being expressed in
unkind & unhealthy ways.
The natural proces is to process these energies, so therefore you need to feel & process in order to transform.
I want you to prepare for a meditation that will provoke you. Yes, today we are going to call out your discomfort. You are going to sit with it. Of course we are going to release it, but the focus of this meditation is on daring to sit with your discomfort.
Try to remember you are human, and as a human you can handle a lot.
So let’s meditate together with the Sit With Your Discomfort Meditation.
